A. Competence standard:
6. To show the meaning of short functional text and short essays in the form of recount, narrative, and procedure in the daily life context and enriching knowledge.
B. Basic competence :
6.1. Responding the meaning and rhetorical steps of essay accurately, fluently, and acceptably in the daily life context and enriching knowledge through recount, narrative, and procedure texts.
C. Indicators :
a. Students are able to mention the generic structure of Recount text.
b. Students are able to produce a Recount text.
D. Learning objective
In the end of the learning process, students will be able to:
- Identify and mention the generic structure of recount text
- Produce a recount text based on their experiences.
- Give feedback to other example of recount text.
E. Learning materials
1. General acknowledgement of recount text:
Definition: Recount is a text that retells events or experiences in the past. the purpose is either to inform or to entertain the audience.
Generic Structure:
1. Orientation : Introducing the participants, place and time
2. Events / Sequence of Events : Describing series of event that happened in the past
3. Reorientation : Stating personal comment of the writer to the story
Language Features:
- Introducing personal participant : I, my mother, etc
- Using chronological connection : then, first, second, etc
- Using linking verb : was, were, saw, heard, etc
- using simple past tense

a) Pre activities
1. Opening prayer
2. Greeting.
3. Reviewing the previous material
b) Main activities
1. Show an example of recount text by using computer and internet connection, asking questions to the students.
2. Explain the purpose and the generic structure of recount text.
3. Ask the students to identify the generic structure.
4. Discuss the answer.
5. Ask the students to remember their experience and start to think about making a recount text.
6. The students make an outline.
7. The students start to make a recount text and post it on their blog.
c) Closing activities
1. Review the material, giving evaluation, and give conclusions together
2. Giving homework : to post comments on their friend’s work.
3. Leave taking.
